Former Rossoneri coach Fabio Capello, writing in the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke about Milan’s future as follows:
“You have to start again with the players already at the club, enhancing their value. Personally, I only make changes if I find a player who is much, much better than the ones I already have. Otherwise, you risk making the biggest mistake: signing players of the same level, who might also struggle to adapt. Let’s remember, San Siro is a different world. This year, in a Milan side generally in disarray, Reijnders, Pulisic, and I would also say Fofana stood out. None of the others performed like they did two nights ago — but those three did. They form a solid foundation."

Capello added:
"I followed Reijnders closely for both Milan and the Netherlands. It was clear he was a different kind of player, for the personality he showed. That said, I admit I didn’t expect 15 goals this season: he has a real instinct for getting into the box. And together with Fofana, they make a great duo. I saw great determination in Pavlovic. And then I ask myself: why had Tomori ended up on the sidelines? Seeing him now, I’m surprised he wasn’t being considered earlier."
"I also saw a Leao who finally looked eager: with the physical strength he has, if he played at 80% of his potential, he’d be unstoppable — and that should be his standard. But too often, he limits himself to 40%. And not only that — Maignan has bounced back and I like him. It’s hard to find anyone better without spending a lot of money. I have no doubt: I’d keep him."
On Christian Pulisic, Capello said:
"Pulisic is another player with consistency and quality — he fits perfectly at Milan. He’s one of those players who starts at a 6.5 rating and sometimes plays at 7 or higher. And I keep asking myself the usual question: who could I find that’s better than him?”
