Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto clarified the future of Luka Jovic, hero of the Coppa Italia derby played last Wednesday:
“I want to start today’s video by talking about Luka Jović because the Serbian striker is, in fact, the Rossoneri hero in the second leg of the Coppa Italia final against Inter. He is a player who this year has found very little space within the hierarchies, first under Fonseca and then under Conceição. A bit due to bad luck, because in any case Jović has had several physical niggles, he has had several interruptions also on a physical level due to injury, which have not helped him in his path of growth, in terms of performance, but also because certain tactical choices have brought him to the margins of Milan’s squad."

"Luka Jović has played very little this year, as we were saying — 78 minutes in the Coppa Italia and two goals, decisive ones against Inter; 348 minutes in the league and two goals. The Serbian striker, born in 1997, so still a player who has several years ahead of him at a certain level, at a certain type of performance, is a player who has shown he can still be decisive and can still be decisive."
Moretto continued to talk about Luka Jovic:
"So, I want to start from the premise that Jović and Milan have not yet made a decision about the future. Jović has a contract expiring in June, and the parties will discuss it towards the end of May. Anyway, in the month of May, it will become clearer whether Jovic can continue or not at Milan also for next year. But today I want to focus on Jovic’s contract, on the contract Jović signed in August 2023, because it was a deal closed at the last second: Jović signs for Milan this one-year deal renewable for another three years. But this 1+3 is a contract that needs to be explained, because it is structured in a very particular way."
