The future still to be decided for Theo Hernandez.

The French defender, who arrived at Milan in 2019, has a contract expiring in a year, in June 2026, but the extension is not a priority for the Rossoneri, unlike those of Christian Pulisic and Mike Maignan. It's a matter of performances, those this year from the former Real Madrid and Alaves player are a far cry from the devastating full-back half of Europe desired, and of money, on which there is no agreement. Milan does not intend to reward Theo with a new lucrative contract, which is why a renewal with a pay raise is not foreseen.

Milan has made it clear to Theo’s entourage that the current salary figures, 4.5 million euros plus bonuses, will, broadly speaking, remain the same for a new contract. The club will not make any “Leao-style” proposals, no raise to 6 million euros plus bonuses, as had been floated a few months ago.

Theo Hernandez is important to the Rossoneri, a player who has shown he can be an added value, but this season he has had one too many shortcomings. Even in terms of leadership, for his teammates, despite the armband (now firmly in Maignan's possession). The red card received for a second yellow against Feyenoord has left a mark on his season and on his future, which, barring surprises, will still be Rossonero.

Theo Hernandez feels good in Milan, wants to stay with the Rossoneri and is currently not considering other proposals, not even the lucrative ones from Saudi Arabia. He would like to continue for many more years wearing the shirt that belonged to his idol Maldini, and he will only consider a new challenge if he is shown the door, if from above he is told: “You’re on the market.” At the moment, he is not in the plans of Furlani and Ibrahimović; renewal remains the primary option. But at figures lower than he expected.
