During the usual episode of the Chiamarsi Bomber podcast 'Aria Fritta', Carlo Pellegatti spoke about Milan, revealing a particular behind-the-scenes detail regarding the meeting between the Rossoneri owner and RedBird founder Gerry Cardinale and Fabio Paratici, who, until a few weeks ago, was one of the main candidates for the role of sporting director at the club:
“I ask myself questions, because nothing escapes me, and this is the big question: why do we have an owner, RedBird’s Gerry Cardinale, who, together with Zlatan Ibrahimović, meets Paratici on February 28, along with the other two? Then he meets him again with Giorgio Furlani in London and—here’s the scoop—he (Cardinale) was fascinated by the business plan that Paratici presented to him. Had Cardinale already chosen Tare? Who says that? Come on, don’t be ridiculous!”

Pellegatti then continued:
“On the night of the long knives, from April 3 to 4—on Wednesday, April 2—the contract had already been filed by the two lawyers. Paratici’s mistake was not signing it on April 2, because there were still a few clauses he wanted to review. On April 3, it seemed like everything was done; on the morning of April 4, it was all over. So it looked like he wasn’t going to come anymore—due to pressure, because of him, because of everything you want. And then Gerry Cardinale meets with him again on Saturday the 19th. So the question is: why does he meet him again? Because Paratici was the figure Cardinale liked the most. Partly for the business plan, partly because if you sign Paratici, you’re getting one of the top sporting directors out there."
Pellegatti concluded:
"So it seemed like he was back in the mix, but then suddenly everything with Paratici fell through—he’s going to Tottenham. But how come the owner, who wanted Paratici even with all the issues—and I recall Gravina’s words: if you’re the owner of the house and you want green paint, and I come and paint it yellow... I don’t know.”
