Antonio Cassano, former Rossoneri striker, spoke about Sergio Conceição to the microphones of 'Viva El Futbol Official':
“In the last month, I’ve been liking him, ever since he changed his tactical system—although the system itself isn’t everything—but he had the courage to make bold decisions. I like how he speaks to the many 'sensationalist journalists' who constantly mention names to replace him. Strangely, it’s always Allegri’s name that comes up."
He continued:
"They’re showing him zero respect. Someone who’s working should be allowed to work. I was the first to criticize him. Now he’s reached the Coppa Italia final and is starting to straighten out the team. Why not give him time to start a season from the beginning? He arrived during a difficult moment for the club. He won right away and then struggled too. He couldn’t implement what he wanted to do. Normally, he uses a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1... but he never got to fully apply his footballing philosophy."
Cassano added:
"He’s shown courage and guts in turning things around. He also rediscovered Jovic, who, from a technical standpoint, is the strongest striker Milan has. He too is starting to emerge after years of hardship. Milan doesn’t have a team of superstars—there’s Pulisic, Reijnders, and Maignan; the others are struggling. Some players have occasional flashes, like Leao, who plays one good match every five, and Theo, who’s had a poor season. I was the first to criticize Conceição, but now I think he deserves a new opportunity to start fresh.”
