Given that in the league both teams are chasing from behind, the "easier" road to Europe is precisely the Coppa Italia. Qualifying for the next edition of the Europa League is also important on an economic level.
True, it's not the Champions League, but it's certainly better than nothing: by reaching the quarterfinals this year, Lazio earned around 30 million euros between UEFA prizes and stadium revenues.
