Speaking from outside the Stadio Olimpico in Rome after the Coppa Italia final, Sky Sport journalist Peppe Di Stefano took stock of the situation at Milan after yet another disappointment in this season:

"It was a Milan not up to the occasion, from the first to the last minute. Some glimpses, flashes from some players, but Milan was poor tactically and technically. Little courage, little desire. It was a match the Milan players had been preparing for a month, they could have played it better. And now all the knots come to a head, because now the waiting is over, now comes the time for analysis, for reflection, for deciding whose fault it is, who is to blame, who will obviously pay for this situation beyond just the technical side. I repeat, it cannot always and only be the fault of the coach or the coaches or the players. There is certainly a component linked to corporate uncertainty, which we have been telling you about but which by now everyone has understood."
The evening ended as Milan evenings have traditionally ended lately...
"Protesting against Cardinale, protesting against Scaroni, protesting against the directors, and now there is concern for the future, because Milan has to start again. It has to do it with a new coach, with a new management, it has to do it with new ambitions. It certainly has to change something, because you lose the Coppa Italia final, you were eliminated due to a series of horrible games against Dinamo Zagreb and Feyenoord in the Champions League, you are eighth in the league...and you have to do the math because at this point it has been a more than negative season."
