The Evolution And Future Of AC Milan Women: Branding and Increased Online Visibility

Female football is gaining popularity worldwide. A relatively young AC Milan women team contributes to its growth with their impressive ambitions and emerging opportunities in various spheres like media rights and even gambling industry.

Women’s football has a great chance to increase its visibility and gain more support from various sponsorships. For example, casinos where you can deposit $5 and get free spins with their massive customer database can become a reliable source of female football fans and match attenders. Cross-promotion between industries help both niches in enriching their fandoms, expansion and improved recognition.

Backed by a famous brand, increasing customer base and undeniable athletes’ skills, the future of Milan Women seems not only red and black, but thriving and exclusive.

A Brief History Of AC Milan Women

The AC Milan women's team was officially launched in 2018 after receiving a Brescia’s Serie A license. It’s not that Milan didn't develop female football before, but rather no other women's team was connected with the men’s club. However, while the male football has several decades of experience and success and the prestigious scene, women should build their world recognition from scratch. From its creation, Rossonere set high standards of gameplay which allowed them to equally compete with top Italian clubs and qualify for European Championships.

Milan's first season under the Carolina Morace coaching was very promising. Girls finished with a third place by their side and only 1 point separated them from qualification to the UEFA Women's Champions League. Valentina Giacinti was rewarded by the league Golden boot for the best result in hitting opponents gates (21 goals), while her teammate Daniela Sabatino showed the second results with 17 goals on her score.

Although the following two seasons lacked trophies, the women club proved their competence, passion and a strong commitment to high standards.

Coaching history

Below is a table with coaches managing the AC Milan women's football team from 2018 to 2025.

Why Is Interest In Women's Football Growing Worldwide?

People from all over the world highly appreciate women taking their confident steps in areas which earlier were previously associated with men in most cases. And there are several reasons for it:

  • Improved visibility. Now, female championships receive more attention from sponsors, which allows them to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup and UEFA Women’s Champions League, backed with solid broadcasting deals.
  • Cultural evolution. Increased focus on gender equality changes the way fans, sponsors, and authorities support women’s clubs.
  • Enhanced online presence. Currently, many teams host social media accounts where they share information about their everyday routine, tournament preparation, and much more. Such availability of information helps build fans’ trust and loyalty.
  • Club integrations. Male and female teams share the same brand and vision. The women's Milan club supporters' base is constantly enriched by men's team fans.

Moreover, more people engage in online gambling, placing bets on women in sports. Some even are interested in special fantasy football leagues. They often investigate the updated list of e-wallet casinos to find a platform for engaging with their favourite entertainment on another level or watch broadcasts.

Challenges To Overcome:

Despite its progress and positive results achieved during its short time of existence, AC Milan Women faces several challenges, just like every sport does. These are:

  • Absence of equality in salaries. Women’s football still receives less investment than men's teams currently do.
  • Media coverage. It’s still challenging to find constant sponsors and ensure regular broadcasting of female football matches, which slows down its recognition and expansion.
  • Fans’ perception. Despite a high level of professionalism and commitment to high football standards, some people still watch female football through established stereotypes.

Nevertheless, female football evolution shows no signs of stopping, with several initiatives seamlessly being pushed into the masses.

AC Milan Women's Initiatives Which Will Help The Club Evolve

AC Milan is doing more than just filling its team with promising athletes. It builds a solid foundation for the development of the entire infrastructure and lasting success. Here are some activities which will help women's football evolve:

  1. Professional coaching and training facilities. Milan female footballers benefit from training under the supervision of experienced specialists and the ability to access the Milanello centre.
  2. Active promotions on social media. The team is advertised online on several channels. Media shares interviews, match reviews and other team-related content to a vast variety of followers.
  3. Governmental support. Authoritative bodies like FIGC and UEFA Women’s Champions League allocate more resources for niche development (for instance, through the grassroots programs).
  4. Sport academies for younger athletes. AC Milan has a special training program for youth, allowing sportsmen to upgrade their skills, learn and become one step closer to professional leagues.
  5. Increased time and number of broadcasts. AC Milan managers work on attracting more attention of media companies to stream women’s games and make them accessible for observers worldwide.
  6. Supporting global movements. The development of Milan Women declares its involvement in the world’s campaigns for inclusivity and anti-discrimination (Manifesto for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).
  7. Participation in international competitions. The Club is doing their best to pass the qualification for the Champions League every season.
  8. Merchandise. April 2025 was the month when AC Milan announced its first women's collection of clothing designed specifically for the female audience.
  9. Fantasy sports and betting platforms expansion. With the growth of public interest towards women in football, casino websites offer more sports-related entertainment, including live streams or related slot games. This increases customers’ engagement and supports cross-promotion.

AC Milan is currently investing not only in infrastructure but also in brand visibility. Described initiatives greatly help the women’s club to increase their customer base, raise funds and improve their professional skills for better outcomes.

Backed by a powerful brand and a growing base of fans attracted by smart promotions, AC Milan Women is positioned to thrive in the nearest future and add a plethora of trophies into athlete’s portfolios.
