First the sporting director, then the coach. After Saturday's match against Monza, which puts an end to a disastrous season concluded without European qualification and with only the Italian Super Cup won, Milan will take the first concrete steps towards the 2025–2026 season, which can in every respect be considered a new year zero. For the role of sporting director, in recent days, there has been an important acceleration for Igli Tare, for whom only the signature on the three-year contract is missing.

For the new AC Milan head coach, news is expected by the end of May.

At the moment, there is no name in pole position, but a thorough screening has already been done: after the failed experiments with Fonseca and Conceição, barring surprises—which, when it comes to the Rossoneri club, are often just around the corner—the new coach will be Italian.

Milan can no longer afford to waste time; next year it will be necessary to start strong, skipping the warm-up. For this reason, Giorgio Furlani, who will still have the final word on all decisions, not only sporting ones, has been convinced to go for a profile that is ready, reliable, has an in-depth knowledge of Italian football, and does not need time to adapt. Someone who can bring playing style and, above all, results—fundamental for the club's finances. And who, in addition, is capable of enhancing the players in the squad, creating potential capital gains, as pointed out by Calciomercato.com.

The most intriguing idea at the moment is Vincenzo Italiano, fresh winner of the Coppa Italia with Bologna, who have no intention of losing him. The former Spezia and Fiorentina coach has been offered a one-year extension, until 2027, of his contract expiring in 2026, with a salary adjustment that could see him earn about €2.6 million net per season. Francesco Caliandro, the lawyer who represents Italiano’s interests, has already had contact with Fenucci, Sartori, and Di Vaio. Only an off-market offer—for both the club owned by Saputo and the Sicilian coach himself—could upend the table and lead to a separation.

By the way, while you wait for Milan's next move in the market and in the organisational structure, you may want to look for more exciting ways to stay on the edge of your seat as the season is almost over. One way is to check out options like Stay Casino no deposit bonus codes, which is a really tempting way to get in on the action without any upfront cost. It's not the same as watching a football match, but for those who enjoy a little risk and reward, it's an easy diversion and you might strike gold while you're at it, unlike Milan's season.

Speaking of the Rossoneri's negative season and their choice for a new coach, there is an alternative to Bologna's Italiano. We are talking about Maurizio Sarri must be kept alive, ready to return to the field after his departure from Lazio in March 2024. Milan is a welcome destination, but it’s clear that his arrival would only go through after a clarifying conversation with Tare, with whom there were more than a few frictions in the past. Confirming this was the Albanian executive himself in a statement:

“Sarri is very good on the pitch, but off it, it’s difficult to build a relationship with him and communicate. This is nothing new—wherever he’s been, he’s had this difficult character to manage. The decision to take him three years ago was because the Inzaghi era—which was Lazio’s history—was ending, and we had to create a completely shocking, opposite project. It was a choice I shared with Lotito. I’ve never had problems with Sarri; he confirmed this to me as well during a dinner we had at the end. We have two different ways of seeing football, but the two visions had to align for the good of the club.”

The choice must be carefully considered—after last season’s mistakes, Milan cannot and does not want to get it wrong. For this reason, as of today, Allegri is not out of the picture—Napoli is considering him in case of Conte’s departure—and neither is the Salento-born coach himself (although the chances are very low), who is Juventus’s first choice if they do not keep Tudor. Other names on the list are Cesc Fabregas from Como and Thiago Motta, dismissed by Juventus and currently without a team. According to Sky Sport, he is a credible name, but for now, it’s just an idea. The priority is Italiano, from whom Milan is waiting for a strong signal. A response—yes or no.
