Who would have ever said, at the end of last season, that Milan and Monza would find themselves tomorrow, on the final matchday of the Serie A Enilive season, both with their tails between their legs due to the results obtained during the season?
Probably very few, and yet that’s how it is. Tomorrow, Milan will finish its season between ninth and eighth place, out of the Champions League and never in the fight for the Scudetto after last year’s second-place finish; tomorrow, Monza will say goodbye to the top division, being relegated to Serie B.
Someone who certainly wouldn’t have smiled in front of such a situation would have been Silvio Berlusconi, forced to see his two sporting creations lost. And if usually the last day of the season is a celebration, tomorrow it will be anything but. QS writes: "Shadows at San Siro. Milan-Monza without celebration. Berlusconi’s derby between silence and protest." The subheading reads:
"The 'president’s' match ends a very difficult year for both teams. Protest in front of the Rossoneri headquarters and Curva Sud empty after 15 minutes. Away fans absent." A stadium that is expected to be empty and drained.
