The President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Gabriele Gravina, spoke at a press conference following today’s Federal Council meeting. As reported by TMW, the president outlined the decisions made during the session. Below are all his statements, including a mention of Milan Futuro:
"It was a concise and quick meeting, but always constructive and all-encompassing. As you know, we wanted to extend our congratulations, just as we did on the day of the Scudetto win, to President De Laurentiis. I called him both to congratulate him on the title and to wish him a happy birthday. He received an unusual gift—it was a very beautiful and exciting league season. The way the whole city of Naples celebrated proves how deeply football is experienced and felt, and for us, cultivating this passion is essential. Congratulations to Napoli—winning a 38-match championship means it was truly deserved."
"I wanted to present the factual data regarding the Brescia situation—a situation that is very clear to us but has been heavily manipulated, misrepresented with false portrayals of reality. This says a lot about how certain shortcomings in our country are masked. Responsibilities are being attributed to those who bear none. On the contrary, this was yet another occasion to demonstrate the great competence of the federal bodies, who acted with great promptness in enforcing the regulations that govern our football."
Gravina added:
"The report came on May 16, but no one pointed out how, in less than 48 hours, it led first to the Covisoc report and then to the Prosecutor’s decision. A thorough analysis of the available material was conducted, but it all began on February 17. If anyone thinks this was done to benefit third parties, they are lying. It all originated from a Covisoc report that identified irregularities in payments. On February 28, we discussed the matter with the Revenue Agency; on April 29, Covisoc sent a reminder, and the response came on May 16."
"The first decision of the Federal Tribunal will come on May 29, and depending on what follows, dates will be shared by Lega Serie B and proposed by the Council for June 15 and 20. The four teams involved will have until June 24 to provide the guarantee for league registration, while other clubs have a firm deadline of June 6. I hope there are no more proposals for a Serie B with 22, 23, or 24 teams. There are rules in our football, and I hope everyone respects them. It’s pointless to keep promoting distractions to mislead those who love Italian football."
"The playouts, barring any different assessments from Lega Serie B, will be played on June 15 and 20. We discussed second teams, decided on certain matters for Lega Pro, and also talked about the Milan situation. We will follow up after June 6 to see what opportunities may arise for potential readmissions within the professional system."
