Allegri’s Leao stance unshaken despite Bayern Munich showing interest

The fact that Rafael Leao, the most talented player in Milan’s squad as well as the highest paid, ends up in the sights of some top European club is nothing new. It has happened in almost every past transfer window, and it’s happening again in this one, with Arsenal first and now Bayern Munich stepping forward for the Portuguese player. Things have never materialized because the Rossoneri club has always maintained high demands for the player.

100 million euros

In recent months, as summarized by Tuttosport, Rafael Leao has ended up in the sights of Saudi Pro League clubs, who have been pursuing him for quite some time. The one to put a veto on these options has been the player himself, who, at almost 26 years old, still has important ambitions in top-level football and is not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia despite the staggering offers. In the last few days, however, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have stepped forward. Milan’s response has always been the same: for less than 100 million, Leao does not move. A counteroffer that made the Gunners immediately give up and one which remains to be seen how the Bavarians will interpret. The German team seems seriously interested, but at the moment the offer is far from the asking price: on the table is 60 million plus a player to choose, who, however, does not interest Milan.

Allegri factor

In this whole round of offers and proposals, one very important factor must not be forgotten, a factor that could have a say both with the club and with the player himself: the Massimiliano Allegri factor. The coach, since his time at Juventus, has been a great admirer of Leao’s playing style and has asked the club—among his first requests—to stand firm against any offers that might arrive. The Livorno-born coach is convinced that with his playing style and charisma, the number 10 can finally make that leap in quality that has been demanded of him for quite some time and which he has never managed to fully achieve. For Allegri, Leao is the foundation upon which to build a new Milan.
