Bayern Munich continues its pursuit in the transfer market to provide Vincent Kompany with a new winger, preferably on the left flank, who can replace the outgoing Leroy Sané on a free transfer, already destined for Galatasaray. For some time now, the Bavarian club has had its sights set on Milan's Portuguese winger, Rafael Leao, but in recent hours that trail has clearly cooled, due to a decisive shift toward another target: Nico Williams.
Leao's transfer value set by Milan is deemed too high by Bayern Munich
In recent weeks, Bayern Munich has come up against Milan's resistance, as the Rossoneri not only recorded the will of new coach Massimiliano Allegri to keep hold of their star, but also set a very high asking price. The demand was no less than €95 million, with no possibility of negotiating a lower fee—and Bayern has no intention of reaching such figures.

Bayern Munich set sights elsewhere...
In fact, having taken note of Milan’s demands, the German club has chosen to resume its market scouting, identifying in Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish winger, Nico Williams, an alternative not only younger (Leao is a 1999-born, Williams a 2002-born), but also more financially advantageous in terms of transfer fee.
Nico Williams has already opened up to a move to Bavaria, despite a contract renewal proposal made by Athletic Bilbao for his current deal expiring on June 30, 2027. According to Sky Sport Germany, however, Bayern is ready to pay the €65 million release clause present in the Spanish winger's contract, and the player, for his part, has requested a net salary of €10 million per season, as told via Calciomercato.com.
