It was the soap opera of the last three days of the special transfer window session dedicated to the teams that will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup competition in the USA, that closed yesterday at 8 PM CET, and yet everything remained as it was before.

In fact, there was no agreement between Chelsea and Milan for Mike Maignan, despite the French goalkeeper having already reached an agreement with the English club and communicated his intention to leave the club, today or in a year, it makes no difference. However, the Blues’ offer did not meet Milan’s demands, who, despite their captain’s expiring contract, set a threshold below which they would not go.
Will Milan let Maignan's contract expire next season? Or will they wait for new offers from July 1 onward, when the transfer market reopens? Or will Maignan go back on his decision?
Obviously, the latter is the path Milan are hoping for—or rather, the one new coach Massimiliano Allegri is hoping for, since from the moment he arrived he made it clear he wanted to keep the goalkeeper. Today, Corriere dello Sport puts everything on the coach’s shoulders: "Maignan doesn’t leave, Max it’s up to you. The risk of losing him for free remains. Now it’s up to Allegri to regenerate him.”
Meanwhile, a key player like Tijjani Reijnders has officially left the AC Milan club. The player had these statements to share about his new awaited adventure with Manchester City:
"I am ecstatic to be signing for Manchester City. City are one of the biggest teams in the world, with the best coach, world-class players and outstanding facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, City have won so many titles, and I want to help keep that going with a lot more success in the coming years. It is also a dream come true to play in the Premier League. This league has seen many of the best Dutch players perform through the years and it’s an inspiration to follow in their footsteps. I am really looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do."
