The new Milan under Massimiliano Allegri is looking for solidity in defense after having conceded a few too many goals in recent seasons for a team that should always be fighting at the top. And on this front, the Rossoneri management is reportedly already starting to work, as confirmed this morning by colleagues at La Gazzetta dello Sport.
According to to La Gazzetta dello Sport, on Tuesday a Milan emissary held a meeting with Arsenal’s management to mainly discuss two names: Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior.
Oleksandr Zinchenko in place of Theo Hernandez at AC Milan?
The paths of Milan and Theo Hernandez are expected to part ways during this transfer window, which is why the Rossoneri emissary is said to have spoken with the Gunners' management about Oleksandr Zinchenko, a Ukrainian full-back with a past as an attacking midfielder. Among all the names that have come up in recent weeks, the former Manchester City player seems to be the one everyone at Casa Milan agrees on, in terms of level and experience. The only obstacle could be his salary, especially since Zinchenko himself is the first to want a change of scenery after a complicated season. In London, the Ukrainian earns 5 million euros net per season, and obviously the Rossoneri’s strategy is to try to spread the salary over several years at a much lower amount.
Jakub Kiwior for Malick Thiaw
Another important handover could take place in central defense, with Malick Thiaw likely to say goodbye to Milan and return, most likely, to the Bundesliga. Hence the justified interest in Jakub Kiwior, a profile appreciated not only for his versatility, but also because we're talking about a player who has already played in Serie A, wearing the Spezia shirt. The Pole, like the Ukrainian, would obviously not be the only names on Igli Tare’s list, but they could soon become opportunities that Milan cannot afford to miss.
