On Monday, Milan's new season will officially begin with the traditional gathering at Milanello. Leading the Rossoneri once again will be Massimiliano Allegri, who returns to the Milan bench after eleven years. Those who know him well and speak to him often confirm that the ex Juventus coach is extremely eager to get back on the pitch after a year away from football—so much so that he decided to bring forward the start of training by a few days, ahead of the club’s original plans (players are expected at Milanello today and tomorrow for physical tests).

A lot of work awaits Allegri

The Italian tactician knows well that the task ahead won't be easy, so the more time he has at his disposal, the better. After last season's disappointing campaign, which ended without qualification for any European competition, Milan must immediately return to being competitive. That’s precisely why a coach like Allegri—who is a guarantee in this regard—was chosen. Max is fully aware that there is a lot to work on both on and off the pitch, because last season saw too many issues that must not happen again under his watch, especially in terms of attitude and behavior.

This morning’s edition of Il Giornale outlines Allegri’s priorities to awaken Milan: first and foremost, the squad needs to be rebuilt. In this sense, the Livorno-born coach has been working closely for weeks with sporting director Igli Tare to bring in players who fit his style and philosophy. The fragilities that unfortunately plagued last season must be eliminated, and certain behaviors seen in the previous campaign will no longer be tolerated. To climb back to the top, it will also be essential to rediscover the team spirit that was far too often missing last year.
