June 30th was formally the las day of the 2024/2025 football season.

Contracts end, suitcases are packed. And Milan has already said goodbye to almost everyone. Six are leaving due to contract expiration or end of loan—six different stories, each with a different impact on Milan.

Riccardo Sottil, not to be judged...

The four loanees who are departing are somewhat a reflection of the season that just ended: a flop. There's little to salvage from the seasons of Abraham, Walker, Joao Felix, and Sottil, though not always through fault of their own. Taking the example of the latter, his time at Milan ends with a "not to be judged": just one start, in February against Verona, which seemed more like a punishment for Leao (who came on in the 46th minute) than an act of faith in Sottil. In the end, he made 8 appearances, all as brief cameos. He was appreciated for his versatility, especially in Lecce, where—due to a series of circumstances—he ended up filling in as a full-back.

By the way, before diving deeper into this article, and as the season is over, the fans are naturally eager to read the latest transfer news update. But as you may know, sometimes the negotiations take too long to materialise. Therefore, as you wait for the concrete and official news, you might want to stay entertained online and head to https://www.bookmakersreview.com/usa/. This platform allows the users based in the United States to explore different sports betting options, particularly through trusted offshore sportsbooks like Bovada and BetOnline, which offer diverse markets and competitive odds, ideal for states like Texas, California, and Florida where local betting is limited. With over two dozen U.S. states now legalizing sports betting and a projected market growth to $15 billion by 2028, Bookmakers Review provides a secure and engaging way to stay entertained during the football off-season.

Tammy Abraham out despite finishing in double figures...

Tammy Abraham had his moments of glory. He was supposed to be the backup striker, and overall, he did not disappoint, keeping in mind that we knew we were dealing with a player who doesn't score in flurries. In the end, he reached double figures, scored the decisive goal in the Italian Supercup, and—believe it or not—he even won the top scorer title in the Coppa Italia, though Sergio Conceição preferred Luka Jovic over him in the more important matches.

In fact, Tammy Abraham scored 10 goals and provided 7 assists in 45 appearances between Serie A, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, and the UEFA Champions League competitions. But that was not enough to convince the club to make the stay permanent. He returns to AS Roma and it seems that his future is elsewhere as Besiktas is reportedly interested in securing his services.

Kyle Walker and Joao Felix: two great illusions...

Kyle Walker was the great illusion: the defensive leader Milan had been missing, and at the start, he even made redemption seem certain. His season effectively ended with a fractured arm in April. From that point on, he lost his starting spot, and in the four short appearances he made afterward, it was clear his situation had changed.

As for Joao Felix, the verdict was reached earlier: he made his debut with a cheeky chip goal against Roma and finished the season scoring in the last two league games. In between, lots of flair and little impact. In the end, even an admirer like the Portuguese head coach Sergio Conceição had to give up on him.

Luka Jovic's final burst was not enough to remain at the club:

Then there are the expiring contracts: Luka Jovic’s was surprisingly renewed a year ago. After the season opener against Torino, he was definitively dropped by Fonseca, only to be brought back by head coach Sergio Conceição toward the end of the season, where he also enjoyed some real highs—above all, his brace in the second-leg semifinal of the Coppa Italia derby. He finishes his two-year spell with 13 goals in 47 appearances.

Alessandro Florenzi and the misfortune of injuries:

Last, but not least in importance, Alessandro Florenzi. One of the key figures in the 2022 Scudetto, in a season where he scored 2 goals. Important on the field for his versatility, his experience, and his locker room presence. Four years at AC Milan, two of which were lost to serious injuries. In the last match of the just-ended season, he spoke out, calling for a Milan that restarts with players who actually want to stay. He would’ve been useful even now, in this phase of rebuilding.

The ex Paris Saint-Germain and AS Roma player did not manage to make an impact in the last season, unfortunately. He only made one appearance, barely playing four minutes in Serei A. But, he remained an important figure in the locker room and tried to stay close to his teammates even when he was sidelined due to injuries.
