After the departure of Davide Calabria in January and those this summer of Kyle Walker, Alessandro Florenzi, and Emerson Royal, Milan needs a new right-back. For weeks now, the main target has always been Guela Doué, a Strasbourg player and brother of PSG star Désiré. However, signing the Frenchman is not proving to be an easy task due to his high valuation.

A high-cost...
This was reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, which explains that the French club is asking for 30 million euros, while the Rossoneri had thought they could get him for 20–22 million euros. Further complicating everything is the fact that behind Strasbourg is Chelsea’s ownership, which did not take well what happened during the negotiation for Mike Maignan, with Milan not granting any discount to the English club for the goalkeeper. Massimiliano Allegri is still hoping to be able to have Doué in the squad, but the path is an uphill one.
For this reason, Milan’s directors are looking around and have already identified an alternative: it is Zachary Athekame, right-back born in 2004, of Young Boys and the Swiss Under-21 team (in the 2023–2024 season, he wore the national team shirt three times alongside Ardon Jashari, a major Milan target for the midfield). There have already been initial contacts between the parties and a first official offer could soon arrive. A real negotiation has not yet begun, but we are nevertheless talking about very different figures compared to those for Doué.
