Yesterday was a decisive day in the long negotiation between AC Milan and Club Brugge for Ardon Jashari, reports today’s edition of Tuttosport.
In the latest meeting with the Belgian club’s directors, the midfielder once again reiterated that his only desire is to wear the Milan shirt. Neither the offers from the Premier League nor the lucrative interest from the Saudi Pro League have shaken the promise the player made to Igli Tare a month and a half ago. Giorgio Furlani led the charge on the financial front, standing firm even in moments when it would have been easy to give in and shift focus to other targets.
Milan, as a whole, showed great mental strength, refusing to fall into the provocations, both in the media and in direct talks, coming from Brugge, who tried until the last moment to inflate the price. Even when the €32.5 million plus bonuses offer seemed enough to unlock the deal, the Belgian club countered by once again offering Jashari to the English market. But the player’s determination made the difference: for him, it was Milan or nothing.
In the meantime, the Rossoneri revised the payment structure, reducing the installment period from five to four years, thus offering quicker revenue for Brugge, a move that seems to have struck a chord, as the Belgian club decided not to call up the midfielder for tomorrow evening’s Champions League qualifier against Salzburg.
The final agreement could arrive as early as today. The fixed base of the deal will be €33.5 million, with easily achievable bonuses pushing the total past €35 million. Jashari is set to sign a five-year contract worth around €2.5 million per season.
