From Ardon Jashari’s presentation press conference, there emerged an extraordinary sense of “Milanismo”, the deep passion for AC Milan, that has rarely been seen before. Just a few of his statements say it all: “It’s a dream come true,” “Even though other clubs came in, I only wanted Milan,” “I struggle to find the right words to explain what I feel being here,” and “Now my dream has become reality.” Words that confirm what had been said and written throughout the long, drawn-out negotiations with Club Brugge: the Swiss midfielder always and only wanted AC Milan.

Jashari only wanted AC Milan!

The negotiations with the Belgian side, who put up a barrier that at times seemed almost impossible to break, were extremely long, with moments of pessimism both at Casa Milan and likely for the player himself. Yet Jashari placed his full trust in Igli Tare, who repeatedly reassured him that he would do everything possible to bring him to Milanello. Of course, Jashari also played his part, turning down every other offer that came his way because he had just one goal, to wear the Rossoneri shirt.

Now, the focus shifts to the pitch, where Ardon will certainly face pressure to immediately showcase his qualities. After the friendly against Leeds, in which the Swiss midfielder made his Milan debut, Max Allegri admitted he was surprised by Jashari’s performance, considering he had trained with the team for only a few days and had spent much of the summer training almost entirely on his own. On Sunday comes the first official match of the season, against Bari, and the Swiss will make his competitive debut for the Rossoneri. His first game at San Siro in red and black, the first of what promises to be many.
