Bad news for Napoli, and especially for Romelu Lukaku, after the injury he suffered in the friendly against Olympiacos. This is the official medical report released by the club:
“Following the injury sustained in the match against Olympiacos, Romelu Lukaku underwent medical tests at the Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a high-grade tear of the rectus femoris in his left thigh. The Azzurri striker has already begun the rehabilitation process and will also undergo a surgical consultation.”
What's next for Romelu Lukaku?
At this point, there are two possible paths: conservative therapy, which does not fully guarantee the resolution of the problem and therefore does not rule out the need for surgery later on. If surgery were required, the recovery time would be around 4–5 months, while opting for conservative therapy could mean a layoff ranging from 2 to 7 months. In the coming hours, the player and the club will make a joint decision. What is certain, however, is that the former Inter and Roma striker will miss, among other matches, the clash against Milan on September 28, as relayed via Milan Press.
