Having already collected more than €200 million from sales, Milan are working to complete Max Allegri’s squad. The plan would be to keep the current 22 players in the roster, but there is an Arab threat that could change things: Al Ahli are studying a move for Youssouf Fofana. After receiving a double “no” from Manuel Locatelli and Denis Zakaria, the Saudi club is now targeting the French midfielder, who only arrived at Milan 12 months ago from Monaco for €20 million plus €5 million in bonuses.
Is an offer on the way for Youssouf Fofana?
According to information gathered by those at Calcio Mercato, some intermediaries have contacted Milan promising an offer from Al Ahli for Fofana. The proposal is expected to exceed €25 million, matching what they had offered Monaco for Zakaria. But in that case, the former Juventus midfielder himself said “no, thanks,” preferring to remain in France to defend the Principality of Monaco’s shirt. Al Ahli, reigning Asian champions and home to two familiar faces from Serie A, Franck Kessié and Roger Ibañez, are in search of a defensive midfielder.
Fofana to Al-Ahli from AC Milan seems like a complicated deal...
The Fofana-to-Al Ahli operation remains complicated for several reasons: first and foremost, the French midfielder is considered important by Max Allegri. Milan would not accept an offer of €25 million for one of the team’s starters, even less so after banking more than €200 million in sales. The interest is real, however, and the situation needs to be monitored while awaiting the player’s intentions. Up to now, Youssouf has expressed his desire to fight to bring Milan back to the stages worthy of the club’s history and prestige.
