AC Milan have decided to take the entire day to reach a definitive decision on what to do with Victor Boniface.
The Nigerian striker, as is well known, has undergone an extensive series of medical examinations between yesterday and today. The results of the final tests, focused mainly on his right knee, will provide the club with the full picture of his condition.
It is worth recalling that before opening financial negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen, Milan had already requested medical information from the German club’s staff and received some reassurances, including during direct talks between the two boards.
Nevertheless, the Rossoneri management wanted to dig deeper, consistent with their reputation as one of the most meticulous clubs when it comes to assessing the medical condition of potential new signings. One only needs to remember the case of Antonee Robinson four years ago: a heart issue was detected during his Milan medical, which caused the deal to collapse but ultimately allowed the player to properly address the problem.
Yesterday, the first stage of Boniface’s tests, split between “La Madonnina” and the “Galeazzi” clinics, provided an initial overview. Today, further exams were completed, ones that could not be carried out yesterday because the player only landed at Linate shortly before 3 p.m., meaning his appointments stretched into the late afternoon and evening.
The thorough nature of these medicals, overseen by Dr. Stefano Mazzoni, enabled Milan to zero in on the key issue concerning the striker’s right knee. Now the management, together with the medical and technical staff, must decide whether to finalize the Boniface transfer or send the player back to Leverkusen, effectively ending the deal. A final decision is expected tomorrow.
Meanwhile, given these uncertainties, Milan have kept lines of communication open with the representatives of Rasmus Højlund, although Napoli are also strongly interested in him, as well as with the agents of Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, who is also being pursued by Aston Villa. Additionally, the Rossoneri are keeping a watchful eye on Sporting Lisbon’s Harder and Dušan Vlahović, who is currently still plying his trade for Juventus.
