A truly intense week for Milan, with the transfer market heating up in the last few hours and still capable of delivering several twists, while competitive action is just around the corner. The Rossoneri will in fact open the second round of the Serie A season the day after tomorrow, away at Lecce, for their first trip of the campaign. It’s not a straightforward game, if only because it comes less than a week after their disastrous league debut, a shocking home defeat to the newly promoted Cremonese.
From Milanello yesterday, no good news arrived for Massimiliano Allegri. All the pre-match concern is centered around Rafael Leao, who already missed the opening game and now risks watching this second one from his television as well. Corriere dello Sport headlined this morning:
“Leao will not be risked.”
Yesterday, the Portuguese trained separately again and it’s unlikely he will travel with the squad tomorrow evening.
That means Allegri’s attacking choices are essentially forced, with Gimenez and Pulisic leading the line. The real puzzle for the coach, however, lies in midfield. Corriere dello Sport adds: "Ricci puts himself forward"
The former Torino man is vying for a starting spot with Jashari, while Luka Modric is expected to be confirmed.
