In these final frantic hours of the transfer market, AC Milan has decided to explore the possibility of signing an additional central defender, as coach Massimiliano Allegri seems fully intent on deploying a three-man defense this season.
The names that have recently emerged as possible and credible candidates are Manuel Akanji, the Swiss international from Manchester City, and Jakub Kiwior, the Polish player currently at Arsenal.
According to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano on the latter’s YouTube channel, Milan had further contacts in the afternoon with Akanji’s entourage, who have put Galatasaray on standby while assessing new possibilities. The Rossoneri are also looking into a deal with Manchester City, which reportedly had an agreement with the Turkish club for £15 million, roughly €17 million. There have also been contacts regarding Jakub Kiwior, although Porto is reportedly far ahead and trying to close the deal in the coming hours.
