After Lecce - Milan match which ended in the Rossoneri's favour with a 0-2 victory, Massimiliano Allegri spoke to Sky Sport. He began his interview by saying:
“Am I oversaturated with news? Tonight we have to talk about the match because it was important for us to win. We played a good game. In my opinion, we conceded 2–3 chances where we weren’t really in danger, but we should have handled them better. Winning today was important to forget the defeat against Cremonese.”
Did you like Milan more today?
“Matches have to be won on the pitch, it’s not as if wearing the Milan shirt guarantees victory. Tonight the team played with great humility and focus, and that’s what must carry us forward.”
How do you think you’ll use Christopher Nkunku?
“I don’t know yet how I’ll be able to use him. He’s a player of great quality, and I think we already have excellent players up front. The important thing is to find the right balance among them.”
When did you decide to change the system of play? And was this decision influenced by the players you have and those who are coming in? Allegri said:
“It wasn’t really a decision as such. Instead of playing with two up front, I preferred to bring one more into midfield so we’d have four there. With this setup we cover the pitch better and have more balance. We need to build confidence, and that only comes by keeping clean sheets for several matches in a row.”
Will you give the green light to Yunus Musah’s sale? And what about considering a Dovbyk-Gimenez swap?
“I haven’t dealt with either the Gimenez matter or the Musah situation, mainly because we had an important match to focus on. There was already too much confusion last week, and this week it was better, for everyone’s sake, to concentrate on the game. Starting tomorrow, the club will decide what’s best for Milan, to bring it back where it belongs and make it competitive again.”
