After Lecce – Milan, Luka Modrić spoke to Peppe Di Stefano on Sky Sport, commenting on the team’s first important victory of the season—one that allows both the squad and the environment to move past the slip-up in the league opener against Cremonese.
First win of the season, how do you feel?
"When you win, it’s always good. It was an important victory after the first defeat at home. I think today we deserved to win, but we must keep going. There are many things we need to improve, and I hope this match will give us confidence for the future."

A month in Milan, how are you feeling? Modric replied:
“I feel good. Everything is perfect. My teammates have welcomed me very well. I feel good, happy. Something is still missing, I haven’t found a house yet, but everything is going really well. I’m adapting to the new city and also to Italian football.”
After the Cremonese match, were you worried?
“No. This is football. Of course, when you lose a game that everyone expects you to win, it’s complicated. But this match showed that Italian football is tough; you always have to be careful. Worried? No, because I see so much quality here and many things we can improve on. I believe that as we get to know each other better and win matches, we can improve.”
Do you still think the same way?
“Milan is a great club in world football. And that’s how we must think. I believe that with the quality we have, we should aim high because we are Milan. We cannot settle for mediocrity. I came here to win. This team has real quality, and we’ll prove it over the course of the season. Right now we’re missing some players, especially Rafa (Leão), who is very important for us. When we get to know each other better and fully understand what the coach wants, we’ll show our quality and things will get better.”
How’s your Italian coming along? Modric replied:
“Good. Little by little (laughs).”
