Gianfranco Zola, former striker and current vice president of Lega Pro, gave an interview to Repubblica in which he also spoke about the strong impact in Serie A of two stars, Luka Modric and Kevin De Bruyne.

He said:
"Excellent football for everyone. Kevin is the best in the world for vision and assists in the final twenty meters. Modric is a genius at managing the game and the ball. I hope our youth sectors take inspiration from these champions. What advice do I give coaches? Restricting talent does not pay off. Fans applaud unpredictability, flair, goals. The result matters, but without those who invent, the game is less fun. Coaches are important, but football is made by players; the formation should not hold back the playmakers."
Zola, who played for clubs including Parma and Chelsea, then commented on the start of the Serie A season:
"Napoli and Juve have started strong. Milan is finding its balance, Roma and Inter will find theirs. Uncertainty is a good sign, it energizes and gives character to the league. Who will be the surprise? I liked Cremonese and Como: I know Fabregas, he has what it takes to do well."
