Marco Landucci, Allegri’s assistant and on Milan’s bench today for the 3-0 win away to Udinese, spoke to Sky Sport 24 after the match.
Are you starting to look like Massimiliano Allegri’s team?
"I don’t know if we’re taking on the coach’s traits, but today the boys played an extraordinary match in terms of helping each other and fighting for every ball. Then they played well technically. We had some concern about the start, but they approached it very well."
Have you all taken a step forward together?
"It’s a serious group, we have to give our maximum match after match. I heard people say the next one is Napoli, but no, we have Lecce. Tonight we celebrate until half past midnight, then on Tuesday we have another important game because advancing in that competition is important for us."
You’ve progressed quickly… Is this all down to you? Did the new arrivals help? Landucci answered:
"When we arrived we found a healthy group, eager to work. These are the fruits of that work. I’ve never seen a group that doesn’t complain about anything, everyone gives their all. That’s the secret. Of course the arrival of Rabiot and other important players helps us. But I want to stress the spirit. They realized the mistakes made against Cremonese, and the details make the difference. Football is like this. When you have the chance you must score, when you don’t you must defend."
Have you worked specifically on the defensive phase as a team or on the unit?
"We’ve worked on everything. We looked at the numbers and they matter. In the last two years Milan conceded 49 and 43 goals, if you want to go high that’s too much. We’ve worked on the unit and on individuals. These boys make themselves available and we try to cause as little damage as possible. I also want to mention Leao, who hasn’t been with us for a while. We found him to be an exemplary professional. He’ll be back soon and we’ll be happy."
