Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Monza CEO Adriano Galliani spoke not only about his past with the Biancorossi but also about Milan, a club where he could return in a different role from the ones he held for more than 25 years under Berlusconi’s ownership.

Allegri is back at Milan and lifting the team.

"Max is a great coach. I saw it clearly... When he was at Cagliari, I kept telling him: 'You have the physique du rôle for Milan.' Because to lead a big club, presence also matters. Max played well and dressed well. A handsome fioeu, as Gullit would say. My dream is the league title at the first try, like in 2010. He can make it, I am optimistic. The Milan directors made an excellent choice."

Did you ever think about Luka Modric?

"We had Pirlo, then when he went to Real Madrid he became untouchable. Modric is a great player. He reminds me a lot of Pirlo. Rabiot is decisive, and Max has always liked him a lot."

Galliani, now that you no longer hold an official position, can you go back to being the Milan ultra from Perugia...

"I never stopped being one. I never held back, even as Monza’s CEO. I don’t know what I do at the stadium. I only realize it when I see myself on TV... I have 31 years of Milan inside me."

In which stadium would you like to support the team?

"A city like Milan must have a great stadium in step with the times. And the place can only be San Siro, well served by metro, roads, and highways, where Milan fans have been going for 100 years and Inter fans for 80. San Siro is impossible to renovate. The alternative is forcing the teams to play in the Milan outskirts. Every city council member, beyond political logic, must decide if for the city of Milan it is better to have a wonderful stadium or not to have one. A modern, beautiful city like Milan must have a stadium that matches its standard. The heresy is not demolishing San Siro, but Inter and Milan playing outside their city."

Galliani, what will you do now?

"Only God knows."
