Luca Bianchin, journalist, wrote on Gazzetta's website about the duel between Mike Maignan and Alex Meret:
“Maignan is France’s goalkeeper, Meret is fighting to be Italy’s third choice. Alex would object: ‘Well, I won two league titles as a starter.’ Objection accepted, although Maignan is still considered the superior goalkeeper overall. Allegri explicitly asked the club to keep him, and Milan agreed, even at the risk of losing him at the end of the season."
Bianchin added:
"Two key figures. Last season their save percentages were almost identical, both close to 71%. The number of passes per game was less even: 37 to 31 for Maignan. With his feet, he is stronger. He wins: 1 on the scoresheet.”
