Christian Gimenez, father of Milan striker Santiago and former footballer, spoke on 'Por mis pelotas' about his son’s current situation, as he was at the center of many transfer rumors in the summer:

“At one point there were a lot of changes at Milan, the sporting director left, and so did the coach. The truth is the two strikers left and Santi stayed, so yes, there was a lot of talk. But in the end, they decided the best thing was for Santi to remain. So he’s fine, he’s happy. A lot was said during the holidays and everything else, but he came back in shape. Well, to be honest, he was already fine before the holidays, because high-performance players don’t need to be doing abs every day. A week without training does nothing. They never really stop working, they’re always active. And from the start, he has been very happy. When we were in the Netherlands, other teams were interested too, but when Milan came forward he said: ‘Milan.’ And from then on it was Milan, Milan, Milan. Out of seven options, when Milan appeared, it was immediately clear for him. So everything he is experiencing there is a dream, and we are always supporting him.”

Santiago Gimenez got back on the scoresheet in the Coppa Italia against Lecce:

"That’s good news. To be honest, I spoke with him a lot and I wasn’t too worried about the lack of goals, because he was creating chances. We talked a lot about it with profe Mesa, who is like a mentor for his career. Santi talks with him and with me, and what we often told him was to stay calm. Because beyond scoring, he was creating opportunities, working for the team, doing what the coach asked. Everything Allegri was saying, we could see it, but the goal was missing. The truth is he is very happy. He’s a local kid, he gives everything he has."
