Divock Origi is one of the last remaining outcasts in Milan’s squad after the major clear-out carried out by the club’s management over the summer. The Belgian forward effectively played one season in the Rossoneri shirt, then was sent out on loan the following year. Upon his return, he was excluded from the squad, a status that remains unchanged, as relayed via Milan News.
His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but Milan want to part ways earlier to save on his high salary, which the club is still paying to the former Liverpool player. Matteo Moretto provided an update on this situation on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.
Moretto’s update on Divock Origi:
"I’ve told you before that, despite reports of him being close to terminating his contract, there was never an advanced negotiation on that front. I can now confirm what I had already reported, with more certainty. It’s highly likely that the story between Divock Origi and Milan will end in January, during the transfer window. There is a verbal agreement between the parties for a separation. That’s the plan, and these are Origi’s final months as a Milan player.”
