Fabrizio Biasin, in his usual column on Tuttomercatoweb, commented on the penalty awarded to Milan in Sunday night’s match against Fiorentina. Here is a short excerpt of his opinion:
“On Gimenez, that was not a penalty and VAR should not have intervened. It was similar to the incident in Juve-Inter, where referee Marinelli judged the situation correctly. Gimenez exaggerated the fall, and there needs to be more respect for the game. Starting Sunday, there will be stricter measures for similar cases. We’ll see if that happens. For now, we know that referees keep asking players to avoid theatrics, yet instead of punishing them, they reward them."

On Milan's victory against Fiorentina, Biasin also said:
“About Milan beating Fiorentina and taking the top spot alone, there’s a lot to say, but let’s stick with the image of Gabbia showing intelligence by stopping Leao from getting a needless yellow card. That act doesn’t earn points, of course, but it shows that this year Milan has all the right ingredients to succeed: top players, unity of purpose, and squad players who understand their roles and are as valuable as the stars. A fine mix.
"As for Leao, you know my view. I didn’t need to wait for a brace to recognize how strong he is. And let’s be clear, Leao didn’t ‘try harder’ the other night. That’s nonsense said and written by pundits trying to justify their poor takes. Leao is always the same, sometimes things work, sometimes they don’t. But overall, you’re better off having him on your side than against you. That’s a fact.”
