Marco Verratti, even from afar, continues to follow the Serie A season with passion.
The Italian midfielder, born in 1992 and currently playing for Al Duhail in Qatar, has never played a single minute in Italy’s top flight, having spent time in Serie B with Pescara and in Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain. Yet he has stated that he remains interested in Italian football.
Here's what he said in an interview with Sky Sport for Sky Sport Insider, as relayed via Calcio Mercato.
Verratti is rooting for Milan:
"Yes, I always follow Serie A. In terms of squad, I think Inter is the most complete team. But this year there is Milan, and without European competitions they can do well. I don’t know why, but this year I’m rooting for Milan. I know my friend Zlatan Ibrahimovic cares, and Milan has always been a club I liked.”
"Moving to Serie A? In football, everything is possible, we’ll see. For now, I’m here, I’ll finish this year and then we’ll see. I don’t close the door on anything, but I like to live in the present and not think too much about the future. At the end of the year, we’ll see what I want to do and what my family wants to do."
Verratti added:
"Pescara is my team, it means everything to me. I hope Pescara can return to Serie A one day, then we’ll see… surely playing in the top league with the team you grew up with is a dream for all kids.”
