Good news for the entire Rossoneri world. Around three months after announcing his illness, Franco Baresi, the club’s honorary vice president and historic captain, returned to Casa Milan. His treatment is not finished, but being back at his workplace, one of his favorite places, lifted the mood across the club.
In early August the club announced the illness of the legendary number 6 with a statement. "AC Milan informs that, following routine tests, our Honorary Vice President, Franco Baresi, was found to have a lung nodule, for which the decision was made to proceed with its removal through a minimally invasive surgical procedure. The operation went well and the post-operative course had no complications. Franco was then evaluated by an oncology specialist, who prescribed consolidation therapy based on immunotherapy," as relayed via Milan News.
What did Franco Baresi say?
"Dear fans, I want to tell you that I will need some time to get back in shape. Thank you to Milan and to all of you for your support. With affection, a hug."
A few days ago the Captain reappeared on social media with a simple hopeful post. "Long live life" along with a photo of himself holding the Milan flag. The image drew thousands of comments from Rossoneri fans, all eager to send affection and a virtual embrace to a major symbol of Milanismo. Last week he returned to his workplace, and there is hope he will soon regain his daily routine at the club headquarters.
