The first quarter of the season is effectively over. Milan is in an ideal situation, one many would have signed for at the start of the season: the Rossoneri, revitalized under Massimiliano Allegri, sit in second place, just two points behind Roma, who currently look down on everyone. After the slip-up against Cremonese, the Diavolo has recorded 11 consecutive positive results and has practically never failed in a direct confrontation. Yet, to reach the final goal and perhaps dream a bit bigger, one thing is necessary: to expand the squad.

Three targets:
This summer, as Tuttosport regularly reminds, Milan underwent a true slimming process that reduced the squad to only 19 outfield players. A decision that immediately seemed risky and has already shown its cost this season, especially in the last month when Allegri repeatedly had half the team unavailable. For this reason, the January transfer window, despite taking place during the holidays, must bring in reinforcements for Milanello. Specifically, looking at the current performance and composition of the Rossoneri roster, three priority targets emerge: a central defender, a wide midfielder, and a striker.
Milan director Tare at work:
Currently, the Rossoneri defense, which is performing much better than last year thanks to a more balanced team setup, has three almost untouchable starters, with De Winter proving solid as the primary backup. The fifth is the very young Odogu, still an unknown factor: in case of one or more injuries, it would be wise to have additional options in the unit. In midfield, a backup is needed for Saelemaekers, one of Allegri’s favorites who still requires rotation: Athekame must develop and will now miss some time due to injury. Finally, the striker situation: Gimenez is falling short of expectations despite his effort. A penalty-area striker is needed, the type Allegri prefers. According to Tuttosport, director Tare has already opened contacts with intermediaries and agents searching for the right name.
