The Mike Maignan renewal issue remains the central topic these days and is set to dominate the discussion in the coming weeks, even months. Milan has seven months to try to repair a deteriorated relationship with the player and his entourage, damaged by a step back taken between February and March when a renewal agreement had been reached. This reversal stiffened Maignan and his team, who in response cut all contract-related ties with the club.

Now Milan will try everything, including leveraging Massimiliano Allegri, a diplomatic man who is especially in sync with Mike Maignan, as with all his players. Journalist Monica Colombo wrote this morning in Corriere della Sera:
"The team’s poor results and the specter of missing out on Europe pushed Milan to lower their offer, causing Mike’s annoyance and desire to move to the Premier League. But Max’s arrival rewrote his fate. Now, on the fourth floor of Casa Milan, they are ready to sit at the table again to tackle the renewal issue. Allegri will once again try to be the most persuasive of seducers."
