Marco Landucci, Max Allegri’s assistant, spoke to Sky Sport after Torino-Milan 2-3. Hare are his comments after the Rossoneri's comeback win:
Four wins out of four, should Allegri be worried?
“Today I put that record at risk a bit (laughs). It’s good the boss is back, I’m a bit fed up… In my view, in the first half they waited for us and we were naive. Instead of spreading wide we went through the middle. Then came the penalty and a counterattack… But credit to this team, they never give up. We must thank the technical staff but also the medical staff, Dr. Mazzoni and his team, because they made Pulisic available even though he was very sick the other day. He came in and helped us a lot. But I want to highlight the team’s spirit, once again they showed they are here and they fight until the end.”
Did things change with Rabiot’s goal or with the dressing-room talk?
“We have something inside us for sure, but Rabiot’s goal gave us strength. Making it 2-1 gave us energy and belief. We calmed down at halftime. Then we put Nkunku as the striker with Loftus and Rabiot behind him. We were much better, more organised, more attacking. We moved the ball better and scored three goals. An important win for us.”
Is Pulisic a champion? How is Leao?
“Leao will have tests tomorrow morning, he has some discomfort in the adductor. We hope it’s nothing serious. We will know tomorrow. Pulisic is a top player. In the dressing room he is very calm, but on the pitch he has a strong edge, he wants to score. He is clinical, today he took two shots and scored two goals. He is a strong player.”
On Loftus-Cheek:
“He played a great match, he has everything to become an outstanding player. Injuries slowed him down a bit, but he has technique, strength, physical presence. He has everything to be a top player and tonight he showed it, he had a great second half.”
On the midfielders’ work:
“I want to mention Samuele as well who came in… He used to be here and he is a player who has grown and whom we trust. He is smart. He is one of those players who do what you tell them straight away. A serious professional. At the start he struggled, he played little, but he never gave up. He trained at the highest level with a smile. We rely on him a lot. Today again he showed he is useful to Milan, when you call him he is ready. The midfielders did well but the whole team did well. In many years working with the coach, we have found many good groups, but this team works hard and never complains. It is a group you enjoy being around. They deserve credit for where we are. We must continue like this, with humility, one match at a time.”
How is the dialogue between someone from Lucca and someone from Livorno? Landucci replied:
“We are Tuscans, we understand each other. We know each other very well. To be honest, we are also funny, we are a good working group.”
Who was Allegri talking to on the phone?
“He didn’t call me, so he must have called someone else. He is always on the phone (laughs).”
