It is absurd that a player like Luka Modrić, who arrived simply to lend a hand to a Milan side eager for revenge and rebirth, is now one of the main pillars of Massimiliano Allegri’s team, to the point that on Thursday against Napoli the coach made the mistake of letting him rest.
Why a mistake?
Because, beyond being fundamental to this team, Luka Modrić is also a talisman. This is confirmed by Il Corriere dello Sport, which this morning ran the headline:
"The Rossoneri go down if he doesn’t start.”
That is exactly what happens. It occurred against Lazio in the Coppa Italia and again on Thursday against Napoli in the Supercoppa. Certainly not a coincidence, even if in the league there has been an instance when Milan lost with Modrić starting, namely on the opening day of Serie A against Cremonese.
