Divock Origi is no longer a Milan player, it is now official. The Belgian centre-forward, born in 1995, joined the Rossoneri in the summer of 2022 as an attacking reinforcement after the Scudetto triumph. Between injuries and difficulties adapting to Italian football, the former Liverpool man was never able to make his mark, despite the fact that the only two goals he scored are remembered among the most spectacular of that season, and he gradually fell off the radar, writes Milan News. After a further, equally disappointing year on loan at Nottingham Forest, the Belgian remained under contract with the Rossoneri, effectively frozen out of the project.
As emerged in recent hours, Divock Origi, after three and a half years and with just six months remaining on his lucrative contract, has signed a mutual termination and is now free to find a new club. Milan confirmed the news a few minutes ago with an official statement on their website. The club note reads:
“AC Milan announces that it has mutually agreed to terminate the contract of forward Divock Origi. The Club wishes the player all the best for the future.”
