AC Milan remain keen to resolve the situation surrounding Mike Maignan’s contract in a positive way.
The French national team goalkeeper is tied to the Rossoneri until 30 June 2026, and in just a few weeks he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club on a free transfer. Milan want to open fresh talks over a renewal, but it is clear that they have also started to look around to assess whether there is a need to move early, beat the competition, and secure a new goalkeeper for the future.
And this is where an important development has emerged.

First offer for Hugo Souza
As reported by Matteo Moretto in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s Italian YouTube channel, the rumours coming out of Brazil are real and concrete: Milan have submitted a written offer to Corinthians for Hugo Souza. The response, however, has been negative on both sides, as relayed via Calciomercato.com.
Corinthians believe that Hugo Souza’s current value is higher than the offer made by the Rossoneri. Above all, the Brazilian goalkeeper wants to stay at Corinthians until the World Cup and only then, if anything, focus on a new adventure, also considering that he is under a long-term contract running until 2028.
What is the latest update on Mike Maignan's situation at AC Milan?
And what about Maignan? Matteo Moretto stresses that the current feeling is that the Frenchman will leave Milan at the end of the current season. As things stand today, there have been no concrete steps forward in either direction, neither from the club nor from the player’s entourage. The situation is now at a standstill.
