Igli Tare, Milan’s sporting director, spoke to Sky Sport 24 ahead of the away match against Cagliari. His statements came on the day Niclas Fullkrug received his first call-up and the January winter transfer window officially opened.
Can you tell us about the Fullkrug idea?
“We acted in time. We were missing certain qualities, and after Gimenez’s injury we were smart to bring in Fullkrug, who is a player that brings a lot of physicality and presence, but also a lot of enthusiasm. We are all surprised by the form he has shown during this week of training with the team. He will help us with our objectives.”
Christopher Nkunku has recovered. What is the line on his future?
“We are in the transfer period, there is a lot of speculation. Nkunku has never been in question: he is completing his integration with the team, and in recent months improvements have been seen. We hope that the brace gives him confidence, we believe he will be an important player.”
What is your approach regarding the defender? Tare said:
“We are happy with our defenders, they have done an excellent season. We stay alert, and if there is an opportunity that can help the team, we will be there.”
