One of the most pleasant surprises of the season at Milan has undoubtedly been the breakthrough of Davide Bartesaghi, a young product of the club’s academy who has now become a regular starter in Max Allegri’s side. In the summer, it was the ex Juventus head coach himself who blocked a proposed loan move, with Pisa, Parma, and Cremonese all interested, because he was convinced Bartesaghi could grow into an important player for the Rossoneri.

Bartesaghi is the new AC Milan starter on the left:
And that is exactly what has happened. After an initial spell as a backup on the left behind Pervis Estupiñán, Bartesaghi gradually climbed the pecking order and is now Milan’s first-choice option on the left flank. His strong performances have also caught the attention of Rino Gattuso’s Italy, so much so that on Friday night at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari a national team scout was present to watch him closely. It would come as no surprise if his name were to appear in the next squad list for the World Cup play-offs, as relayed via Milan News today.
A big salary adjustment:
Everyone is now talking about Davide Bartesaghi, including in the Premier League, where several clubs, Arsenal among them, have already set their sights on him. The Gunners have sent scouts to San Siro two or three times to watch him. For this reason, Milan’s management at Via Aldo Rossi are already working to secure his future. Initial talks with his entourage have begun, and the club is ready to triple his salary, from the current €500,000 to €1.5 million per season. A revision of his contract expiry date is also on the table, with the deal currently set to run until 30 June 2030.
