It is a strange case, but so far the numbers say that Milan win and impress thanks to them. Christian Pulisic and Rafa Leao, a duo of quality, flair and creativity. Yet this season, the two have played very little together. Just 1,443 minutes in Serie A. A discouraging figure? Perhaps, but Milan have still managed to win thanks to the goals of the Portuguese and the American, often separated but decisive.

Season numbers

Christian Pulisic is currently Milan’s top scorer. The American has scored 10 goals and provided two assists so far, reaching double figures despite several muscle issues and physical setbacks. Even in Cagliari, in Milan’s latest away win, Christian came off the bench and made an immediate impact, going close to scoring late on. As for Leao, his numbers are slightly lower. Seven goals and one assist, the latest coming in Sardinia. A crucial one. Together, they form a pairing that has not yet managed to make a real impact as a duo, starting together only in the 0–1 derby win, with Pulisic scoring the decisive goal, as pointed out via Milan News.

New ideas in attack

With an extra option in Fullkrug and with Nkunku, Fenerbahçe rumours aside, who could find more space again, Massimiliano Allegri continues to work on trying to launch the Pulisic-Leao partnership. Decisive and important, but not yet as influential or obvious as they could be. Could Thursday night against Genoa be another chance to see them together on the pitch once more?
