One signing has already been completed by AC Milan in this winter transfer window: Niclas Füllkrug has already made his debut, providing positive early signs to Massimiliano Allegri, above all because of the unique profile he brought with him to Milanello. Tare explained: “We moved in good time. We were missing certain qualities and, after Gimenez’s injury, we did well to bring in Füllkrug. He is a player who adds a lot of physicality and presence, but also great enthusiasm. We are all surprised by the shape he has shown during this week of training with the team. He will help us achieve our objectives.”
The first twenty minutes confirmed expectations. By profile, Füllkrug is the classic target man Milan had been lacking, capable of shielding the ball with his back to goal, linking play, and drawing central defenders toward him inside the box to create space for his teammates. There is a question mark over his physical continuity, but with only one match per week, his management can certainly be more accurate.
The Nkunku case
Attacking moves, however, may not be over. Fenerbahçe continue to court Christopher Nkunku, but they have yet to reach the €35 million fee requested by Milan. Moreover, Tare is not particularly keen to part with him just five months after a €38 million investment: “We are in the transfer window, there is a lot of speculation. He has never been in doubt. He is completing his integration with the team and improvements have been seen in recent months. We hope the brace gives him confidence. We believe he will be an important player.”
The reality, though, is that if an offer of at least €33 million were to arrive, either as a permanent deal or with an obligation to buy, Milan would seriously consider selling the Frenchman, provided he agreed. At that point, another attacking addition would be evaluated. One name liked, for example, is Sidiki Chérif of Angers.
The defender
In the coming weeks, Milan will try to give Allegri another central defender, but without rushing. “We are happy with our defenders, they have had an excellent season,” Tare explained. “Of course we are very attentive to the market and, if we see an opportunity to improve the situation, we will be there. We want to give ourselves every chance to achieve our objectives. A gamble or an experienced player? As long as he is a good player.”
There have been no openings from Bayern Munich regarding Kim, nor any willingness to offer a discount. Other profiles, from Dier to Drăgușin and Disasi, are not fully convincing. Keep an eye, late in the window, on the situation of Aké at Manchester City, who is in need of regular playing time. This was reported by those at MilanNews.
