Ardon Jashari has almost become an enigma. Signed by Milan from Club Brugge for around €38 million, the Swiss midfielder has so far failed to convince Allegri and his staff, partly due to a serious injury. A tactical mismatch may also be the first of several issues.

Along with Ricci and Modrić, he is the third deep-lying playmaker in Milan’s squad, and considering that Allegri usually deploys only one in that role, the conclusion is obvious. As against Cagliari, Jashari did not feature in the draw with Genoa either, remaining an unused weapon to date.
Five appearances so far for Milan, with just 216 minutes played. A young player who is clearly not yet at his best after the serious injury suffered at the start of the season, but who also has a strong need and right to get minutes in his legs. To give Modrić, a champion but not an eternal one, some rest, and also to try to make himself useful to Allegri’s cause, as relayed via Milan News.
Against Fiorentina, there could finally be space for Ardon Jashari, with the possibility of seeing Modrić start on the bench. Jashari’s last appearance in a Milan shirt dates back to 18 December, in the Italian Super Cup semi-final against Napoli. From Riyadh to Florence, Allegri might dust off a player who has so far shown little sparkle, but who could in all likelihood prove useful for Milan, now more than ever in need of changes and rotation in midfield.
