The AC Milan boss, Massimiliano Allegri, spoke to the media in a press conference after the 1-1 draw against Fiorentina.
Same mistakes made as against Genoa: haven’t we learned the lesson?
"Let’s say maybe I didn’t explain myself well to the guys, because we didn’t understand what happened against Genoa and tonight we repeated it. There were 7 minutes left, an eternity. For the equalizer, we did well, then we got impatient. We needed to be calmer to build good plays and take home the win."
A point gained or two lost? Allegri responded:
“It’s a point earned, the second draw. From here to the end, 34–36 points are needed for the Champions League in 19 games. We have to work and improve. Right now, we’re struggling to score: we absolutely need to get better.”
What’s wrong with Pervis Estupiñán?
“It’s normal that when you play, then sit out… Today he did some good things, some less good, like everyone. The midfield today was completely new, and for their first time playing together, they did a good job. But we need everyone: we can’t move forward with only 11 players. We have valuable ones: Fullkrug, Ricci, Jashari… The squad has great quality, and we need to make changes, especially during this period of tightly packed games. Rabiot wasn’t well after a knock against Genoa, so I preferred to keep him on the bench. Then the substitutions did well when they came on.”
Is a back four an option? Allegri commented:
“We tried a back four against Genoa too. So far, we’ve gotten results with a 3-5-2, but it also depends on how the players are… Based on their characteristics, we could play with a different system as well.”
