After starting all 18 matches out of 18, Luka Modrić will start from the bench for the first time this season this afternoon in Florence, away to Fiorentina.
This is reported this morning by Corriere della Sera, which explains that the 40-year-old Croatian champion needs to be managed and, after the demanding match against Genoa three days ago, needs time to recover. One of Ardon Jashari or Samuele Ricci will take his place, with the former the favourite.
Speaking at yesterday’s press conference, Milan boss Allegri said:
"Nkunku is fit and available. I have four players up front, two on the bench and two who will play. Modrić is unlikely to play, he will be on the bench with us. We have recovered fairly well. We will face a Fiorentina side that is getting back to full health. The league table does not reflect the team’s true value. After the win against Cremonese and the draw with Lazio, we will find a difficult environment. It will be important to put in a strong performance from both a technical and physical point of view. It’s a pity we didn’t beat Genoa, but it will be an important point.”
