Gerry Cardinale has returned to Milan. More precisely, to Milanello. In the past few hours, the RedBird founder has been at the Rossoneri training center, where he met Giorgio Furlani and is currently in discussion with Massimiliano Allegri.

Cardinale is in Milan as part of a series of meetings across Europe, the most recent having taken place in England: in recent days, he was an official speaker at the meeting organized by the NBA in London for the NBA Europe project. In other words, the Milanello meeting is not an extraordinary event, but a way for him to reconnect in person with the Milan world.

Cardinale had been absent from Milan and Italy, at least officially, for months. His last match at San Siro was in September 2024: Milan 4-0 Venezia. Shortly after, in November, he attended Real Madrid-Milan. In April 2025, there was talk of a meeting at Milanello with the club executives. Over the past months, however, Cardinale has clearly remained in regular contact with the club, maintaining a constant and cordial relationship with management. For this reason, the friendly meeting with Furlani today can be seen as a sign of continuity, at a time when RedBird is finalizing the refinancing operation with Comvest, which, according to the club’s plans, should conclude by March. If all goes as expected, Elliott would exit the scene.

Medium-to long-term commitment:

In this context, Milan is clearly in a phase of evolution. Within the RedBird ecosystem, it remains a highly important asset, and for Cardinale, it continues to be a project to develop over the medium and long term, especially thanks to the stadium project, which in recent months, with the approval of the Milan City Council, has achieved the most anticipated breakthrough, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport on their website

The meeting with Allegri is therefore significant. After a complex season like 2024-25, Milan has returned to performing well on the field, giving fans dreams of a replay of the 2022 Scudetto, which marked Cardinale’s entry into the Rossoneri world. It is likely that Cardinale and Allegri discussed this, perhaps the January transfer market, and certainly the Champions League objective, which remains a top priority for the club. Not by chance, it is Allegri’s mantra at every press conference.
